Jana Doppa is the George and Joan Berry Distinguished Associate Professor of Computer Science at Washington State University. His research focuses on both foundations of AI and its applications to science and engineering domains. He has won a NSF CAREER Award, Outstanding Paper Award at AAAI (2013), Best Paper Award from ACM Transactions on Design Automation of Electronic Systems (2021), and was selected for a Early Career Spotlight talk at the IJCAI conference (2021). He also won the Reid-Miller Teaching Excellence Award (2018) and Outstanding Junior Faculty Research Award (2020) from the College of Engineering, Washington State University. He has presented successful tutorials on structured prediction at IJCAI (2016) and AAAI (2018) conferences, and multiple tutorials on machine learning for electronic design automation at ICCAD, DAC, DATE, and Embedded Systems Week conferences.
Aryan Deshwal is a senior PhD student in CS at Washington State University. His research focuses on machine learning and sequential decision-making with applications to chemical design and nanoporous materials. His Masters dissertation on AI to optimize computer architecture won the Outstanding Dissertation Award (2020) from WSU. He won Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award (2020) from College of Engineering, WSU. He won outstanding reviewer awards from ICML (2020), ICLR (2021), and ICML (2021) conferences. He has published in top-tier AI venues including IJCAI, AAAI, NeurIPS, ICML, and JAIR. He was a research intern at Google Research in Summer 2021.
Syrine Belakaria is a senior PhD student in CS at Washington State University. Her research focuses on adaptive experiment design for hardware design, materials design, and electric transportation systems. She won the IBM PhD Fellowship (2021-2023), was a finalist for Microsoft Research Fellowship (2021) and Open Philanthropy AI Fellowship (2020), and won the Outstanding Research Assistant in EECS (2021) from the College of Engineering, WSU. She has published in top-tier AI venues including AAAI, NeurIPS, ICML, and JAIR. She was a research intern at Microsoft Research in Summer 2021.
